Type 6 UFOs can apparently beam down a very large number of aliens. Going into this mission without heavy weapons was unwise, and most of the X-Com personnel involved were driven off with serious injuries by the swarms of aliens present.
The initial deployment zone was seriously lacking in any kind of useful cover, and had poppers and spitters hardly more than arms length from squad 2. As a result, squad 2 was forced to retreat almost immediately while squad 1 fought off those aliens with some difficulty. Squad 3 entered the power station close to the southeastern corner, and was able to make up a grav lift before the anthropods caught up to them. By camping the lift they were able to kill all of the Anthropods that tried to reach them.
Squad 1 moved forward and sighted the first skeletoid. Squad 1 used incendiary and stun grenades to drive them back, but did not advance to captitalize on the skeletoids' disruption. Since Sarah refused to fire on one skeletoid who was only a few feet away, she was badly wounded and forced to withdraw. In the end, although some skeletoids were stunned, mostly by Lorien, such as this one , all of the stunned skeletoids bled to death, burned to death, or exploded to death before they could be recovered.
Relying heavily on disruptor weapons is too dangerous with the number of aliens encountered from these new UFOs. We still need a live skeletoid, but we'll have to wait for a good opportunity.
